Our Story

The Radco story started almost 40 years ago when Derek Brunton (founder of Radco Professional MTB Instruction) was in a high school gym class, where he met three other dudes who also had a passion for biking. Back then the young men formed a team that they called Radco. Radco performed BMX bike tricks at various events and locations throughout the GTA. The team developed T-shirts and rode together for 4 years, solidifying Derek's love of bikes.

Upon graduation, Derek and the Radco crew moved on and disbanded. Derek hung up his BMX bike and bought a brand new cross country mountain bike and discovered a new way of riding. Spending time with his friends and participating in OCUP races across the province, Derek discovered his love for riding the great trails of Ontario. Years past and the downhill MTB sport picked up traction and Derek decided to try his hand at downhill MTB racing. Finding success and even more fun, Derek expanded his knowledge of all things bike and wanted to share this knowledge and passion with others.

Derek grew his knowledge of bike instruction by receiving his certifications with both the NCCP  and PMBIA organizations. He honed his coaching skills by working with Durham Shredders as a Learn to Race/Learn to Ride coach of kids between the ages of 7-17. He coached other riders as a passion project at Joyride 150, where he has ridden since 2009. The next logical step, was to open his own MTB Instruction business. Giving homage to his roots and the first bike team he rode with, he opted to use the name Radco Professional MTB Instruction and share his years of experience, numerous certifications and passion for the sport with you the rider!
