Gear List
As with any sport the proper equipment and gear are important. Below is the gear that Radco thinks will provide you the safest and best experience:
Outdoor Experience Gear List:
- A well-tuned mountain bike. We encourage you to visit your local bike shop (if you would like us to recommend one, please reach out) and have your bike tuned to ensure that your bike is ready to ride in a safe way. For most of our experiences, we recommend a dual suspension cross country or all-mountain bike for a more comfortable ride, but front suspension only bikes will work also.
- Flat pedals for use with flat-soled shoes. The use of flat pedals will help make it easier to learn and practice. If you are very comfortable getting in and out of clipless pedals and prefer them, it is your prerogative to use them.
- Dress for the weather - the weather in Ontario can fluctuate greatly, be aware of what the weather is supposed to be and dress appropriately.
- Cycling Helmet - a CSA approved helmet is required
- Cycling Gloves
- Riding glasses (highly recommended for outdoor riding)
- Water - a bottle with cage and/or Hydration Pack
- Snacks - healthy snacks like a Cliff Bar, energy bars, trail mix, etc
- Any medications you require - please let your instructor know if you have medication on you that you require
- Sunscreen and Insect Repellent
- A spare tube - nothing is worse than being deep into a trail system and your tube goes flat and you need to push your bike back to the parking lot...by carrying a spare tube, we can assist you in changing it and getting your riding again!
- Basic riding tools - don't worry if you don't have them yet, your instructor will carry extras
